New Bee Hill
Glorious shades of pollen and glistening nectar.
Adding a new hive; Chloe. This swarm was found about a mile off from Bee Hill (as the human and equine walk). I didn’t notice any pre-swarming behavior from Tova or Sunset, so I’m pretty that this is a new colony. It’s been really rewarding working with local swarms… especially given how they seem largely to come to me.
Bees in flight
My first swarm Tova (on left) has a new neighbor! This second swarm is likely a split from Tova, but I can’t be sure. Sunset was found clustered in a stand of oaks a few hundred feet away. Within a few hours a new super was set up and the bees gently transferred. The branches and bramble (pic 2) help the bees understand they’re in a new location… and thus encourages a navigational map creating flight on their initial departure.
